Jaundice

On 18 July 2008 (Friday), brought little Allivier back to TMC to see her Pediatrician, Dr Koey Soo Shin at the Pediatrician Clinic.

We reached the clinic around 10 plus in the morning. The clinic was super crowded. We weight her and was shocked to learn that she is loosing weight! The nurse told me to bring her to level 3, laboratory to do a blood test. To test for jaundice (as she looked very yellowish) and to test for Metabolism intake. I got worried.

Hubby went with me to the laboratory. After waiting for few minutes, the nurse called Allivier's name. We went in. I have to remove little allivier little booties. Poor Allivier cried when the needle pricked her little leg. I cried with her! Seeing her suffer makes my heart sink!!

I brought her back to the Pediatrician Clinic to wake for result. To my dismay, Dr Koey mentioned that her jaundice level has increased and her jaundice level is at 19 (during discharge from hospital, her jaundice level was still mild). So Doc Koey gave us 2 options -
(1) Rent the UV cot to let him sleep
(2) Hospitalization

I choose to admit her to the hospital as the healing process is faster. Takes only 2 days with professional nurses attending to her. If we choose to rent the cot, the healing process takes about 4 to 5 days and we have to ensure room temperature is right as we have to strip her naked, leaving only pamper on.

Immediately when we entered the room, my tears rolled down again. My heart is so painful when I know I have to leave her there. I plead with the nurse to let me breast feed her before I leave, in case she misses mummy. May God bless my baby to recover from jaundice. Sob sob..
